The Family Firm

Louise Huelin is one of the twenty owners of de Havilland Heron G-AORG, Duchess of Brittany. Nothing could be more appropriate. Louise's father, Maldwyn Thomas, founded Jersey Airlines in 1948 and she has fond memories of the business that dominated family life when she was young.

Many years later, "Tommy" Thomas became a politician and sat in the States of Jersey as Deputy of St Peter. When he died the Heron performed a spirited fly-past during his funeral in the parish church. It was a fitting tribute to a man who, with a young family to care for, took reservations for the fledgling airline, sold tickets, loaded bags and kept the books. Everything, in fact, except fly the aeroplanes.
